RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The highlight of the horticultural calendar, RHS Chelsea Flower Show offers a stunning and exquisite selection of gardens for visitors to see, ponder and marvel at. To get to the show from Fulham Pier Hotel, you can take the District Line from Putney Bridge Underground Station or a bus from Kingwood Road, both within walking distance of the luxury riverside hotel. Held annually in May, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is attended by a host of famous faces, including his Majesty King Charles III and, perhaps more obvious, Alan Titchmarsh CBE. There are often hospitality packages available that give you the luxury experience of the show through dining experiences and complimentary bars.

Fulham Palace

The home of Bishops of London for over 1,300 years, Fulham Palace is a historic house and botanic garden. It could not be easier to reach Fulham Palace from Fulham Pier Hotel, simply take a scenic walk of less than 10 minutes down the River Thames.

Fulham Palace hotel is free to visit and rich with history, dating back to 4000 BC. The museum and historic rooms tell the story of Fulham Palace through the people who lived and worked there. Temporary exhibitions run at Fulham Palace throughout the year, we advise visiting their website to see what’s on. The botanic gardens stretch across 13 acres and features a walled garden, rare trees and beautiful plants. We certainly recommend a visit, being on the doorstep of the hotel.

 

Opening Hours
Fulham Palace’s historic rooms and museum open from 10.30am every day until 5pm while the botanic garden opens from 7am to 6pm. We recommend double-checking the Fulham Palace website before your visit.

Putney

Well-known for being the starting point for the annual Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Putney is a beautiful district of South West London. It is just across the River Thames from the boutique Fulham Pier Hotel. To get to Putney from the hotel, you can take a delightful 20-minute walk down the river to Putney Bridge and cross to Putney. You can alternatively take a bus across the bridge from Putney Bridge Station / Gonville Street but we would recommend going on foot and pausing to absorb the breathtaking views over the River Thames.

Putney Bridge

Connecting Fulham and Putney across the River Thames is the Grade II listed stone Putney Bridge. The Boat Race which Oxford and Cambridge University famously compete head-to-head in starts from Putney Bridge. Being just a 15-minute scenic riverside walk from Fulham Pier Hotel, we recommend visiting Putney Bridge at different times of the day to make the most of the picturesque views looking up and down the River Thames.

WWT London Wetland Centre

The WWT London Wetland Centre is a nature reserve that spans 100 acres. Situated in Barnes, the WWT London Wetland Centre is approximately 35 minutes from Fulham Pier Hotel via a bus from Putney Bridge Station / Gonville Street to Barnes / Red Lion. It is an urban oasis with lakes, ponds and gardens that attract diverse wildlife such as otters, rare birds and insects.

There is the opportunity to meet Asian Short-clawed otters, the smallest otter species in the world, with daily otter talks at 11am and 2pm. Wildlife spotting changes throughout the year as the seasons and climates change, attracting different birds and insects to the reserve. The café provides somewhere to sit down and as you explore the site, you can find out more about WWT’s conservation work across the globe.

The Queen’s Club

Home to the HSBC Championships featuring professional tennis players, The Queen’s Club is just over 20 minutes from Fulham Pier Hotel. Staying on foot, the journey is just over 25 minutes but this can be shortened by taking a bus from Kingwood Road to Fulham Pools. The HSBC Championships take place annually in June. Established in 1889, it is one of the longest-running and well-known grass court tennis events. ln 2026 the competition runs from 8 to 21 June.
